i agree with yzfcrazy 2 strokes are alot quicker but more work and maybe hes not a dick if he said he was joking you might have read it wrong brad "can we all just get along?"

Back in 1996 when I bought my 300ex I had opportunity to race my buds 1987 250x. The outcome was always the same. Acceleration from a dead stop always had the 250x just marginally ahead of the 300 then as speeds increased to top gear the 250x would always have the higher top speed which I would guess is about 1/2 mph faster. The 250x came stock with a hotter cam ,higher rev limit and better exhaust . After getting a pipe on the 300ex I was able to run 1 tooth higher on the front sprocket and end up even or just a smidge ahead of the 250x in top speed. Sometimes race results varied depeding on who had the freshest gas in the tank or how high you pumped up the tires. I wouldnt put money on either quad in a race. Just line them up and find out.

I hear the 2000 and newer ones might come in a better state of tune than the older ones.
