Default Honda Rincon prices paid

Hi, I am possibly in the market for a new '05 Rincon. How much do you think the dealer will go down from their price they quoted over the phone of $6800? I see some prices that people paid for theirs here and other forums and I don't understand how they can go below $6000. The dealers get them from Honda for $6623 which includes final assembly, freight, and all other stuff. They would get a 5% dealer holdback off the MSRP which would work out to be $6243.05. That would mean the dealer would be making no profit on the machine unless he can get you in financing if they sold it for that price. What do you guys think? Any comments are appreciated. Thanks, rooster

I just bought a brand new 03 Rini for $6100. (No dealer in my area would go below $7300 for a 04 or 05.)
The sales manager showed me a "factory invoice" that showed they paid $6555 for it. I DON"T BELIEVE IT!
They charged no setup fee or freight, so according to him, they lost $455 on it. RIGHT!
No dealer is going to lose money on a sale. So, that means they are really getting them cheaper.

If your dealer won't go lower, call more dealers. Don't be afraid to drive a few hours and save some $$.
Although $6800 ain't bad.

Woodsruner, actually the dealer made a profit of $75.05. That dealer invoice he showed you includes the freight from the Honda factory to the dealer. If doesn't matter if the dealer is 1 mile away from the factory or 1,000, the freight is a set charge for anyone in the country. This eliminates closer dealers having an advantage over the others. Also, that invoice price is the same for all the Honda dealers in the nation. So with a dealer holdback of 5% of the MSRP on the Rincon that amounts to $379.95. Dealer holdback is money that is paid to the dealers for selling a machine. They are paid every 6 months for the last 6 months inventory. The only thing you can add in there is they do have a small setup fee after they come out of the crate to get them to showroom ready. But that's minor. If any dealer charges freight, it is BS. Well, I am gonna see if I can get them down to $6500, especially if my mom and I are each buying one, they will be selling 2 at once. I would think that would deserve a discount! rooster

I figured there was something going on there that would give them some profit. Like I said, no dealer
sells anything at a loss. Your info gives me more ammo for future purchases, too get the price lower LOL.

On the opposite side, there are dealers that charge as much as $200 frieight and $300 prep here in Central Ohio. ASK is one (Ackers Suzuki/Kawasaki). I went to them and several other dealers looking to buy a 700 Prairie or 650 Twin Peaks. They wouldn't budge a dollar off MSRP for nothing, even if it was 2 years old. When I saw their bottom line price I about passed out. So I bought the Rini. I am a Honda fan anyway, and highest performance is not a prerequisite for me. The Rini suits me fine.

Anyone who buys anything from ASK is getting ripped off.
Beware central Ohioans!
