Default 350 4x4

ok yesterday my uncle got an 86 honda 350 fourtrax 4x4. it was in fair condition the plastic was spray painted, but it runs real good and starts to the touch. he paid 1250 for it. is this a good deal. i was wondering if anyone could tell anything about them. i have a 3-wheeler and dont know squat about quads. and what about the gas tank is it suppose to be under the seat. any information about this quad would be very helpful. ill post some pics as soon as i can get some. i haven't even seen it yet.

thanks austin

My Father has one that is in mint shape they are tough as hell but they ride like a tank because of the solid front end yes the gas tank is suposed to be under the seat. They are still going for up to 3k up here in canada!

just bought a couple myself, yes they ride hard but will climb the side of a cliff. my uncle who also owns one says that the older version was originally designed for the swiss army and that is why it was built like a tank and also why the gas tank is buried inside the machine so as to not expose it readily. might be the truth might not, take it for what it is worth. I am also trying to remedy a clunking noise in my front end when i turn if you know of anything let me know

I guess it depends on it's condition. One of my neighbors paid (I think) $2000. for a 350 a couple years ago. He said he wouldn't sell it for more than he paid. Actually, I don't think he'd sell it at all. The only thing I remember about it was the lack of a-arms.

I've got an '88 Foreman and it's built solid. They still fetch a good price. The front end is a solid axle/swingarm type unit. The only problem is that OEM parts are expensive, especially plastic. I replaced all of the plastic on mine and it ran me close to $450 for everything. A buddy of mine gave me mine a few years ago when he bought a new Rubicon. I've dumped about $2500 into it. Definitely not going to sell it.

Hey BroC, what kind of sound is yours making in the front end? Mine's doing the same and I'm taking it to the Honda shop this weekend so they can diagnose what it is. I'll let ya'll know when I find out.

Here's mine: '88 Foreman

I was told to use some special friction additive that is used in jeeps and trucks. I was told to add just a few ounces to the front transfer case and it might make the clutch plates to loosen up or not stick.
