On my 94 Honda 300 4x4, I have a slight problem with my brakes. While moving forward if I pull the brake lever for the front brakes, the tires will lock up almost quick as I pull the lever. If pulled rather slowly I don't have this problem, but on anything slick or when I have to stop with any quickness at all they will lock up. Then if I rolling backwards, on a hill with very little incline to it, if I pull the brakes they will barely stop it at all. Anybody have any idea on what my problem could be, and how to fix it?

Check your brake pads or shoes whatever you have...they could be locking up from rust....I cant see the brake lines being a problem with air...your fluid could be contaminated...but i'm totally not sure on this one.

Thanks for trying to help. I have had the drums off the front, cleaned everything up real good, put it back together, didn't help anything. My friend has one that a 96 model and his is doing the exact same thing. He said he has bled his brakes one already, and that didn't help his any. Its stumped both of us. I'm gonna do general maintenance tommorow, and I'm gonna pull the hubs back off and see if I can't figure out whats going on.

I'm just hoping that someone on here might know whats going on with them.

I had this problem with a XR200R, Turns out that I put the shoes in the wrong spot, as one is larger than the other.. I was only 15 at the time You also may want to take the shoes off and grind the leading edge of the lineing on each shoe at a 45 degree angle on a bench grinder. I have seen drum brakes catch and litterly apply themselvs at full strenth.
