Seriously, once you get the drill down, kicking is no big deal. When it is cold, use full choke, and adjust the idle down by backing the choke down. Then nurse the throtle for a minute until it gets warm, and starts running smooth.
A hot engine needs to be LEAN to start. NEVER TOUCH THE THROTLE BEFORE OR DURING A HOT START! That is the mistake people make with a hot engine, then they do have to kick it 20 times to clear the carburator. Just pull the hot start lever, kick it and don't touch the throtle until it is running.
I ride with a bunch of die hard old school 2-stroke guys (250R's, Banshees, LT-250, not to mention all the kids with their Blasters). The 450 starts way easier than any of these bikes! Where do you see any posts from them whining about having to kick start their bikes??? And heaven help us, not one single reverse gear in the whole lot!!! How will we ever survive? And how do those poor YFZ owners survive without reverse?

I think e-start is nice when it's working right, but it's really not necessary and a complete pain in the butt when it's not working right.
I've had 4-kick starts and 2 e-starts and I honestly think the kick starts were just as easy to get going. I'm discovering I'd rather kick then drag out a charger and wait. Or Lord forbid, to have to stop what I'm doing and go buy a new battery!
JMO.
