GREG
Being polaris guy I really have to appoligize for being here,I thought it was nice to see, what was going on with the big guy's.I don't relie on what the mags have to say,I let my rideing ability and machine do the talking for me.I come here as I want to see whats going on with the RUBY,It's new innovative machine and if it works out maybe the other manufactors will take notice, and we all win.I'm like DOC hey I'll ride with him any time and I'll tell you from experience that there are places I'll out shine him,on my 500SP and there will be places that he'll out do me.But when the day is over we'll have great time around the camp fire and all the tales.I'll bet you we don't have HONDA fire and POLARIS fire, this is all so childish,They are all ATV's so who cares what is where? If you learn something new,who cares where you heard it,what more can you ask for.I have just recently had good conversation with HONDA guy that was interested in buying a snowmobile, should he have just stayed here and tried to get what ever info he could off HONDA site as that was what he rode?It was a friend to friend conversation not Polaris Honda fight.CM

Someone did not delete your post. ATVBBS probably did. Site policy is not to have duplicate posts in different forums. Given this policy, would you not rather have posted in Polaris forums instead Honda? Obviously you did not know.

I think that was the point of some of the replies. I visit and post in both, and would not expect different from anyone else.

As far as magazines go, they can't really check on a reliability. With that in mind, the only thing the Rubicon has as an advantage performancewise over the SP500 is the transmission. Thats what the magazines will look at in a shootout. The sportsman will outrun it, outclimb it, and ride better. Thats about all you need to win a shootout.

I still think that if Polaris would put a dual range 5-speed transmission in a Sportsman 500, and do away with the long shift linkage, they would win every shootout done. The expedition gets high marks for its 5-speed and the automatic is the shortcoming of the sportsman in some debates. Swap it out, and the only fire that the SP500 will come under will be in the way of long term reliability which a magazine doesn't care about anyway.

The reason I posted it both places is that there are some people that only read and post in Honda or Polaris but not both.

It doesn't surprise me at all. The only thing it lacked over the Grizz was speed. I can't wait to drive one! to me my SP has plenty of power 20 percent more is awesome!

Just looking at the pics of the article above, which it was very readable, they said the Honda had to be neutral to start it. That is not correct. It has a start in gear feature, by pulling the right hand brake lever in slightly. I think I need to do the test next time .

they dident test a 2001 magnium it was a 2000 model. because they said it dident have the H.O engine. it would have made a little difference if they tested a 2001 instead of a 2000, maybee it would have taken second place.
