Yeah I caught that cant start in nuetral thing and thought it was odd they didnt know about the right brake thing. Glad to see the article was readable.

In the same issue it has the 2001 Polaris line up and there is no mention of the Magnum being HO.

but they also metioned Polaris had mad great strides in the durability area. The whole reliability issue should be put to rest starting with the 2000 models.

I can appreciate that, but you are still missing the point. The moderator of this forum only allows a post in ONE forum. No duplicates. Given that fact, which forum would you choose to announce that the SP500HO won the shootout?

I just got the issue today, and I would think that the Magnum is a 2001 since it is silver(looks GOOD, but not quite as good as yellow). I think they are both good bikes, and that it depends on what your needs are in a machine. Notice, they left out Arctic Cat and the Traxter lineup. If you have the sportsman or rubicon, you have a great machine. i can't say which is better simply because i haven't seen the rubicon in action yet, which i have seen ALOT of people automatically assume either machine is better because of their brand loyalty. I would be proud to own either machine.......

Cool, the SP500 HO won the shoot out. Not to steal any thunder but the magazines are biased towards the sports quads. Last year the Rancher & Kodiak were up for the quad of the year, but alas, the "bomb, DS-650" won it.

My prediction for quad of the year for 2001 is the Raptor! Any bets?

Recon98,

We Sportsman owners already know that the Sportsman is the best 4X4 on the market, so the answer to your question is that I would have only posted here to keep you Honda guys informed.

Just kidding, I probably would have just posted it in the Polaris Forum.

TXDoc2, how does the start in gear feature on the Rubicon work? I tried pulling in the right hand brake lever and it doesn't start while in gear. I even looked in the owners manual and it says the ATV can only be started in neutral. What's up Doc?

Pull in the right brake lever slightly, you will hear a "click". It you have your thumb putting any pressure on the throttle, the computer will not let the starter turn. Just touch the starter button with the brake lever slightly pulled in. Page 76--paragraph #3.
