I know different machines probably have different top speeds, but my 01 Raptor did 76 mph several times past one of those "Your speed is" police radar trailers when it was 100% stock. That was on a paved road, which may make a difference if the numbers you're quoting were obtained on dirt. Still, I know my Raptor has a few MPH on a stock 450R cause I pull nicely on them once we're topped out, it's pretty close in acceleration but I also weigh 250 lbs.

this is odd....unless someone can explain to my why a 450 can beat a 660 in a drag i still believe that it cant..i have proved that theory wrong on my 01 raptor(if ur wondering y i put 02 in the other thing is because i was thinking of my brothers ,this is his old sn) it makes no sense to me at all..and what is this all about with putting a pipe and etc.. on the new 450's really "wakes them up" ? putting a pipe and whatever else they say on a raptor really "wakes it up" too.. i must not be understanding the logic in this situation..i know that everyone who owns a 450 probably wants to believe what everyone says about them being awesome..i think rumors have evolved and people actually believe this stuff...dont get my wrong i rode my friends 450 that he got for his birthday and it ripped..but it just doesnt make any sense

OK..I hate replying to these my bike is faster than your bike BS,..But I think I can clear this up..Everyone is compairing apples to oranges here..A stock 450 will beat a stock raptor on a trail or track..That is what they are made to do. If you put the same bikes in a drag race the raptor will win in the end due to a better top speed. It all depends on what you like. Instead of arguing about who has the fastest quad, just enjoy what you have! I've ridden Raptor's, they're a great quad, the 450 just fit me better. And I've spent a few hours on the Honda 450, great bike, but in my opinion the yamaha is a better bike right now. Enjoy what you got and ride safe.

Elraptor, here's the deal...
If the raptor and yfz had the same chassis and engine, but with different displacements, then your assumptions would be correct. The truth is, the yfz is smaller, lighter, and makes more hp in stock for than the raptor. It can do this with a dohc engine that revs higher and faster than the huge 660cc sohc thumper in the raptor.
Its pretty simple. Any more problems understanding, and I'll try to help you out.

I think the Honda have a funny transmission, espeically first gear. As for raceing one TRX-450r i beat four of them the other weekend in Ottwa, illionis at the FoxVAlley track. This was before the hotcams and i was not spraying nos. As for raptors they are slow off the line and then catch up at the end.
