When I come to a complete stop with my Rancher I often can now downshift to the next lower gear without having to gently rock the atv back and forth. All I get is a (-) between gear numbers on the LCD. Is this common?

Something doesn't sound right. While riding slam on the brakes & come to a complete stop from 20 mph or so & be in 4th gear. All I have to do is hit the down shift button several times & ready to roll in first.

The only time that I have seen "--" is if the quad is turned on in a gear besides neutral. A little rocking motion will fix it.

The "--" is normal, it's just the sensor has not picked up the gears have meshed. Soon as you move a fraction of an inch the sensor picks up the info, and then it displays the gear your in.

doesn't sound "normal" but there is no MAJOR prblem there. you may try adjusting your clutch. the owners manual will tell you how. it's pretty simple. plus when you are sitting still and trying to downshift, have your handes off the brakes so the quad can roll a bit. this may also help.

good luck with this
