300ex vs Warrior
#1
Hello,
I currently have a 1988 Warrior that's pretty tweaked out (.20 over bore, FMF Pipe, K&N Air Filter, etc), but I'm sick fixing the stupid thing. Something always breaks on it (No cheap shots here on Yamaha ok).
So, it's time for a new quad. A friend on mine bought a 2000 300EX and needs to get rid of it due to some family situation. He said he'd sell it for 3500. He says there is about 10 hours of riding time on it, and it's still under warranty.
So, I thinking about buying it, but I think I might miss the Warrior's power. How does a 300EX handle compared to a Warrior? Is the difference in power that noticeable?
Later,
Jeff

I rode em' both. The 300ex is lighter and is probably a better jumper. It has the better suspension. The warrior has a little bit more speed in a drag race but on the trails and through the woods i bet you would be faster on the 300ex. The warrior is bigger so if you are over 6ft you might feel more comfortable on the warrior. Also $3500 for a mint 300ex is a great price.

I have a 96 300ex and am very happy with it. With a pipe, Uni filter, and one tooth bigger front sprocket a 300ex has a much better chance of keeping up with a Warrior, still down on power a bit but the better handling and jumping more than makes up for it. Also I am 6'2" and although the 300ex is smaller than a Warrior I don't want to ride what feels like a tank to me.

You better take that 300ex while it is still available. 3500 for a 00 300ex is great. Well, as long as it hasn't been to you know where and back. Plus, you can make that 300ex faster than the Warrior. Try an aftermarket exhaust, jet kit, K&N Air Filter, and after that, no stock Warrior will touch you. The 300ex is much better in the woods and on jumps. The only way the Warrior will win is in a drag race. You will see a big difference in comfort on the 300ex. BUT, if you are much over 6ft, you might find youself cramped at times. I will still buy the 300ex. You can always re-sell it and make $500-$1000 off of it.
