Watched the 450Rs being built.

Me and some buddies took a tour of the Honda plant in Marysville, Ohio yesterday. We were told that this plant was the only Honda plant that produced the 450R. They build 200 450Rs a day there.
At the end of the line, each and every 450R is put on the dyno. The tech in the white lab coat then starts the quad, revs it to the moon while in nuetral, then runs it through the gears while at full redline. The quad is then crated up, put in a truck, and taken to the warehouse five miles away. After we watched this about five times, the tour guide looked at us, and said "We get to have fun on them before you do". The tour guide also told us that the seats are shipped separately to the dealers, and the dealers install the seats.
So, if your dealer wants to charge you a prep charge, and you think you're the first to start/ride the quad, think again.

Cameras were not allowed into the facility. We were at the Honda Homecoming, which goes on every year about this time. It was a great time. We were allowed to (although we did not) demo ride any Honda motorcycle made. They also had a small track to test ride new Honda atvs. They raffled off a Goldwing (actually it was free to enter the drawing). They also had some "Wheelie King" that rode an XR70 around without a front wheel on it. It was really fun.
