Whats the altitude where you live? You can experiment with different jets. With a pipe and filter you might go with a 153 - 155 main jet. They are very inexpensive.

Default jetting question for 400ex

I run a Pro Circuit s/o, Hotcams Stage 1, White Bros Powerfilter with an outerwears lid. My jetting is as follows; #40pj, needle clip in 4th slot, #158mj, air/fuel 2 turns.
I can run with a buddies stock 04 Predator til 4th gear on asphalt (but he's not real good with it yet)............

Yo, Ozark! Getting off subject, but how does the power differ since you installed your HotCam. I just ordered a stage 1 and I am hoping for a little more mid range power.

Default jetting question for 400ex

Its kinda hard to tell exactly cause I did all the mods at one time. The low end is really noticable. Hills I use to climb in second I now power up them in third. Holeshots (not the tires) are a big improvement. The front end comes up easier. There is more power in the mid range and the top end as well. I can hit the rev limiter a lot easier than before (didn't even knew it had one) Well worth it IMO. Default jetting question for 400ex

Hey i just put a stage 1 hott cam in my 416. It picked up quite a bit. But im having trouble with jetting i ran a 162main and it boged in the mid range so i put in a 170 and it has no bog. By the way i run a ported head no lid air box full big gun race. It seems to run good should i try a 150 or something around there? P.S. i dont want to run it lean.

Default jetting question for 400ex

Hey ozark38 i put on a big gun rev box today still with my 170 main jet. And the rev box changes the power band and revs higher you can really notice it.

Cool!............Though you'll probably need it more than I would with the 416. Mine is more set up for low and mid range. The only time I hit the rev limiter is when I'm drag racing and don't shift soon enough (no more power to be made). I mainly race on the trails and this is how I like my setup......(this is me....)

btw, have you changed to a bigger pilot jet and/or moved your needle clip?

Btw, I'm still new to this jetting thing. Cals400ex is the jetting guru but I haven't seen him post in a while.
