XR650r to TRX450r
#12
I pulled off on the 450 and almost had it stall on me the first gear feels like it will do 60. Yes I do alot of trail ridding but there is a great MX track they just built about 10 miles away from me. The 650 is a PIG the front end wants to push so hard in a turn it's not even funny. With the HRC kit what does the HP come up to will it lift the front end better?

If you want just pure top end, just get a used Banshee rebuild it and start dropping retard mods on it. If you want to trail/MX which would include jumping and tight turns, you aren't going to use your top end. I guess I am not sure what your question is. Banshee/Rappys are all top end poorer handling, YFZ/TRX 450's are better for turning and jumping. I personally think the 450 four strokes from either yama/honda are best out there right now, but to each his own. Why don't you get a older 400ex and chop up the frame to handle the XR 650 motor?

No I don't need that much topend I only have a couple places that I can open the 650 up. I am waiting on a buddy to go with me the honda shop but i'll let you guys know what I do tonight. I didn't rev the 450 to hard because it was still new does the power come on better once you get the rpms up?

The stock 450R is way corked up on both ends. By changing the exhaust and cutting the lid on the air box like the one that comes in the HRC kit, I was able to go from the stock 118 jet to a 180. This makes a huge difference and why it doesn't just come this way is beyond me. Also, a change to a 13 tooth front sprocket is a huge help as well.....

Went to the honda shop and they looked at my 650 then the sales guy left and went somewhere didn't tell me he was just gone. So I sit there in the showroom for about an hour and not one word from anyone. So I went around back picked my bike up and left. Guess those guys don't want my money or think because I am young I can't afford that quad.... O well what are you guys paying OTD for these things?

News flash. Since you love your 650's power, but want a quad, you may hold out for the September dealer show. There's a good chance a 650R or 650EX (same machine, different name choices) will be released this year. Supposedly it's already being raced in some desert races out west as testing for the new production machine. Rumor is it's very lightweight and has great suspension. However, this can't be proved as of yet though. Check the Honda forum for it.
