Got a question for those running a FMF Powercore IV2 SA on their 400EX... I didn't take a close look at the mounting bolts before taking off the stock exhaust system, but after installing the IV2, I noticed that the two mounting bolts don't go all the way thru the funky stock retainers...what I mean is the threads aren't able to reach the threaded inside part of the retainer. Are they supposed to? On the rear retainer especially, it doesn't go thru either (and I used the supplied longer bolt and spacer), and the bolt and spacer kinda hangs at an angle. Definitely doesn't look right... Also, I'm assuming the stock clamp isn't used where muffler meets the head pipe? Correct? Please advise...

I had no problem mounting mine on.. You have to use the clamp that clamps down on the head pipe or your pipe would rattle. As for the retainers you must not have them set right... Hey... Checkout www.atving.com goto product reviews then fmf powercore 4-2 it shows you the installation process...

I went back out to the garage to figure out what I could have done wrong, and there's absolutely no way the stock clamp will work with the IV2 SA. I even tried compressing it as much as possible, but the bolts don't even begin to come close to being able to thread into the other side of the clamp. Maybe the IV2 has a different raised edge than the IV...the IV2 has about a 1/4" raised edge on the end...the stock muffler doesn't. Guess I'm gonna have to call FMF...

Did you check out the product review for some help??? I also remember that i had to put some oil on my header end and take a long strong piece of wood and put it near the clamp and give it a few wacks to seat it right so my bottom mount would line up correctly..

Yea, I checked out the product review and they show the stock clamp is used, but the pipe they show is a Power Core IV--I don't know if there's a difference between that one and a IV-2 SA. Anyhow, I re-installed the stock pipe to see how the clamp works with it, and noticed that the tab on the clamp rests in the cut-out grooves in the muffler. But it's the raised flange at the end that's causing the problem, and I don't see how the stock clamp will work unless I bend the tab flat and use longer bolts. Anyhow, I guess I'm gonna have to call FMF and see if the stock clamp is used, or if they forgot to include a different one in the box. I guess I could always use a t-clamp similar to the one I had for the E-Series I had on my Warrior.

I have the 4-2 sa also and that raised flange sits just behind the ring...
