I was riding around my trails today and there was this Z400 down there. I was riding a stock 400ex with no mods to the motor beside a K&N. Well I never raced a Z400 before so I challenged this guy. He accepted of course seeing I was on a stock 400ex. Well we lined up on a dirt road and before we raced I was playing dumb and I asked the guy. "aren't those things sopposed to smoke 400ex's up?" he replied, (proudly/cocky)"haha yes they are". So we took off and I got the faster take off, and then I shifted into 3rd, 4th then 5th, at this point I was confused cuz I didn't see that Z400 in front of me rather it was behind me about 3 quad lengths. LOL then we ran out of room and the guy, looked at me in shock. I was laughing i was like "You've just been beat by 80's technology!" Man was he upset. Then he was all like "well man look at my tires". The only reason i can think of that I beat him is that I have more skill and prolly 60 pounds lighter.

Oh yeh his girlfriend was with him and I was cracking on the guy and all making fun of him and his girlfriend was laughing at him. lol I was just poking fun at him its all good he was pretty cool.

Ahh no he had her hop off for the race, would have prolly smoked him if he had her on back.

 

we own both i ride the ex and my dad owns the z400 and they are close. the z400 usuall gets me but he dont smoke me who ever said that. a z400 dont smoke a 400ex at all. i mean come on anybody knows that that owns both. i just like the options of the z400 but yeah if you take a real heavy rider on a z400 and a small rider on an ex then the ex will get it!!!!
