how 2 preserve 400ex rear bearings
#1
Yesterday I was putting a 14 tooth sprocket on my 400. And when i loosened the bolts to adjust the chain, I had a lot of muddy water running out of it. I suppose if it can hold water theres a way to put oil in it to make it last a little longer. Any Ideas? could you pour some oil in the crack.

I'm not exactly how to preserve them, but I noticed on my 99 that the rear axle has some play in it (about a 1/4 of an inch). Not good. I guess I need to take care of it asap before more sand, mud and water get inside and cause serious damage. Not really looking forward to it though. Got my Honda repair manual, put in a .40 piston kit so the axle shouldn't be that tough.

I think all you have to do is drill a hole and thread to whatever size you need. I know a couple people who work at machine shop's that can help me out.
How hard was it to put that piston in. Ive had my carb completely torn apart numerous times with no problems I haven't been able to figure out. But I don't want to tear the engine apart until I get it payed off.
