Sometime in September Honda is having it's dealer meetings in Vegas - they are expected to announce a couple new models. The rumors I keep hearing are the new 400-500cc liquid cooled motocross bike and the TRX650EX(R?). I have heard the 11th mentioned, but that's not a definite. Perhaps there are some dealers here that can confirm the date?

Anyone else heard any rumors they care to share?

 

If you guys notice that the K&N filter base fits very loosely inside the air boot ring.The boot will not seal properly no matter how tight you crank the clamp(boot gets distorted).Putting rim grease on only results in the filter popping out on jumps,definitely no good as some of you have found out.Wrap the end of filter with roll bar tape,any 4x4 shop will have it and it looks kind of like heavy duty electrical tape.The gap is decreased and the boot will bite into tape when clamp is tightened,fliter will not budge whatsoever.I have never had any dust get past it.Even when riding at Stoneyford during dry summer,dust is superfine silt.Filter was completely clogged(could scrape off dirt with finger)but nothing got past.Light layer of oil I put on inside of air boot was stil dust free.

 

A K&N filter is worthless without the K&N precharger (sock) it extends the cleanings and while washing the sock you notice that water won't go through it, just air is how good they work.

From what I hear they are setting up a supercross track in the middle of the Hotel it is being hosted at and having some team riders out there tearing around. Maybe displaying the capabilities of any new machines they may be announcing.

 

That may be (I have noticed the loose fitting, which seems to tighten down nicely), but I haven't noticed any dirt coming in around the filter base, it all seems to be in the intake tract after the end of the filter mount. Something to keep an eye on though....

 

Well talked to my buddy at honda and the big rumor he has heard is they are comming out with a TRX650EX as well as the liquid cooled bikes.. It is being held Sept 11th but there was nothing about a supercross track but you never know..
