Default filter oil

Just return the K&N stuff, and get foam filter oil. Even oil like Hondas filter oil, or Uni, or Maxima FFT, are more tacky than motor oil. Exchange your K&N for one of these.

I still have the stock Honda foam filters and I use PJ1 filter oil and K&N Filter Cleaner to remove it, it is quite tacky. I wipe the inside of the carburetor throat each time I service the filter and they are always spotless. I don't believe any dirt or dust is getting through the filter. The factory foam filter with the PJ1 seam to provide excellent filtration.
