i wont believe for one second that honda NEEDS a new quad. it would be smart to because of the big bore sport market, but it's already competitive with the CRF450, CR250, TRX450R and the TRX400 has been a benchmark for beginner/moderate riding quads.

To stay afloat, no. But do be the best, Honda NEEDS sport and utility flagships. That is just plain and simple.

I don't get Honda logic. They now have electric start for the 450 on the off road bike and it would have been very easy to put that engine in quad. They seem to be committed to a kick start lightest weight possible 450 in both bike and quad racing models. OK so they still could have put the 450 in the EX with electric start and all they are missing is reverse. This is what they have on bikes. I would rather see the 450 electric start water cooled in the EX then what they have done just add reverse to the old 400EX and call it good. Maybe next year.

The new Rubi does have Traxlok, but it's also only $300 less than the Rincon....

thats plain and simple for any manufacturer and they just released the TRX450R. and after watching it like a hawk for flaws for possible 05 revisions you want them to pull a rabbit out of there sport market line and release a 650? i think that thinking in plain impractical and just shows that if there is something to complain about people will complain about it.

i wont speak on utilities because i dont follow them.

Although I like the 450R, it is not leading the industry. It has some hefty competition on the track from the yfz, and it is not the best all around trail bike with e-start, reverse, lower gearing, etc. Everyone here knows Honda doesn't have an incredible trail, dune bike. Sport wise, Suzuki has the Z, Yammi has the Raptor, I ask u this, what does Honda have? And why so pricey? The 400ex can't compete, 450r won't do to its nature.

From a business aspect of things, Even for the people that wouldn't buy a 650, that want a smaller bike like 250,300, or 400ex, would buy Honda because of Honda having a better reputaion as a big dog even if they want a less advanced quad. It will catch there I, And I promise with simular Z handling, and simular raptor power, and Honda reliability it will be the ultimate quad for a long time. We still dont have a good handling, powerful quad out there for trail/dune riders.
