I'm looking to buy my first ATV. it will be used at my deer lease and around the house maybe pulling a small trailor.
I'm looking a two ATV's for sale.

A 1999 TRX 300 for 3500.00 supposed to be in execellent condition. &

A 2000 TRX 250 for 3000.00 also supposed to be in excellent condition.
Would the 250 be enough or would you reccomend the 300(i've heard it's bulletproof)

Thanx,

David

It is all personal preference. I have a '99 TRX250 (Recon) and It has pulled anything rolling load i've tried. It has had excelent reliability (only problems have been caused me). The 300 is alot more work oriented than the recon, but the TRX250 is alot sportier.

Supertraprecon,

Why would you recomend the 250 over the 300 if the 300 was 2 wheel drive?

I won't be racing or running it fast or jumps.
I want to haul stuff round the deer lease and pull stuff at the house.

Is the recon better for that?

Thanx,

David

Is the recon better for this stuff than the 300?

p.s. i don't think my previous post worked so if this is a duplicate...sorry

go for for the 300 whether it is 2 or 4 wheel drive. The Recon is a buckboard to ride on. Though it seems they have roughly the same suspension but the 300 is a bigger machine and has larger tires.

iv had a 4trx 300 4wd it was an 88 and it just didn t break drove it acrossed stuff i didn t think any quad could make it acrossed i over heated it 3 times in one day even put a hairline crack in the frame and never know it till the dealer told me when i traded it in bad points: its kinda slow and has small shock travel but to tell the truth i had more trubble with my 95 forman i got right off the showroom floor the 300 has the greatest track recored of any quad ever built u can check that part out for yourself
tricked out 4trx 250R and restored 86 250R ATC

the 300 is not a fun machine. its slower by a bit and not as maneuvarable. but if u say for work purposes only DONT GET HOOKED ON IT FOR RECREATION or you shouldve gotten the Recon
