If Honda does do something new they will do it right, they always do. I just don't see them jumping into the cc's war yet.

I can GUARANTEE that in a few years we will be seeing some quads w/ IRS(independant rear suspension) soon. Then all quads will be IRS and soon the straight Axle will became extinct. Just look at the IRS article on the front page of atvconnection.

The Raptor will be the king of the 4 stroke sport quads bar none. Yeah the 400ex does well but Yamaha is no slouch in the performance bike and atv world.

I read somewhere. I repeat, I READ SOMEWHERE that for quads on motocross the best cc's for thumpers will be between 400-450 right in the range for the 400ex 440ex and Cannondales. The Raptor I dont believe was built specifically for the motocrosser, if you think about the reverse. Plus its lowend is lacking COMPARED TO ITS MIDRANGE AND TOP END. I still expect to see 400ex's and now Cannondales to take motocross while the Raptor will act as the recreational sports rider's dream. Question is still out on the dunes.

oh and i didnt talk about the 650ex. I'm more and more doubting honda will build one. 400ex sales are still high and the like my last post, i dont know if more cc's mean much at the track. A 650ex will have high prices (i hope not) but it probably will, and this could be another problem in releasing it.

I don't see Honda getting into the fourstroke cc battle. What would really blow the whole thing up(which Honda is capable of doing) would to release an updated version of a 250R. Could you imagine that? The ATV industry would just go estatic. Look at the current races. Alot of "250R platform" racers. Is there enough 250R's out there though for years to come? With the attendance numbers up to ATV events, someone will have to come out with a new 250cc two stroke.
That is my thought on Honda's next step in the sport class of wheelers. It would be a dream come true for alot of people (including me)

I think it would be more Honda's style to release a new-and-improved 400EX, with more technology put into the engine like fuel injection, I dunno, some other cool stuff, to bump it up to around 35hp. I don't think big 600cc engines are right for the sport quad market, I think 400-500cc is perfect for sport quads.
