Everyone I ride with ( approximately ) 10-15 ATV's all think Honda is like gold or something. I know they are ok but they remind me of the minimum insurance coverage comercial. personally I dont want anything minimum so i didn't even consider Honda in my choices.

just wondering how much longer people will be suckered by the name only and wake up and see there is a lot better out there. Maybe one day if people wise up Honda will have to get out of the 80's styling and ways of thinking and put out a comparable product to all other makes and models !

A big reason is that Honda only takes a finger when you have to buy replacement parts, Yamaha wants your whole arm. It isn't just the purchase price that you have to consider. It is the ongoing maintenance too.

Honda has earned the title as "King of Reliability" starting from a time before you were probably born. I know I am 40 and Honda was considered more reliable way back then. Even if another vendor were to develop an awesome new product that was even more reliable than anything Honda produces, it could take generations to unseat Honda. You are always going to find a pocket of friends who believe one is better. In certain areas of the country, Polaris dominates. If a father is going to buy a quad for his son, it will be a Polaris because that is what his friends have and his hunting buddies.

Sounds like you are just sensitive to your riding buddies not caring about your Grizzly as much as you do. I say screw em. The Grizzly is a great 4X4 and will go anywhere they will go. You won't get anywhere trying to trash on Honda. Nothing you can say in the short-term can undo the reputation that have built over decades. Enjoy the experience of being the unique one in the bunch.

 

forgot to say my brother is going today to get him a Foreman.

for some reason that is the only brand he would even consider.

and its just the basics also the Rincon and Rubicon scares him so bad cause they not old technology like the Foreman and Rancher. so i told him get electric shift and he said the same thing the honda dealer told me about 8 years ago when i ask him why doesn't Honda make it where one can take it out of four wheel drive? he said that's just something else that will tear up.

I was asking then about a rancher.
I ended up getting a Arctic Cat 300 4X4 then. which was a very good ATV. the best then in my opinion. but now i needed something a little bigger so i got me a grizzly. i just couldnt wait any longer and i know it will hinder me in the long run cause i would also consider the Cat 650 and the King Quad 700 also but they were'nt available yet. but so far am very pleased with my decision. just need to snorkle the belt case. before I sink it again. and yes 4 of the honda's were just watching. they wouldnt even attempt crossing the stream. but i'm not content to just watch. i have always been the one being watched.
and i did make it out on my own power. i onle have been pulled out once and that was on the cat when she tried to get a drink of water and just had to remind her that she drinks gas not water and all was good. cant wait till this evening when i ask my brother to follow me and he backs down or i have to pull him out. just cant wait.

 

Boy is that true. All my friends I ride with in one part of the mountains are die-hard honda. just 30 miles away i went on a poker run and everyone was all about yamaha.
Honda is known for reliability for a reason though and none of their products dissapoint.
As much as I hate despise those little import cars (lots of civics) with the coffeee can mufflers that try to be fast, I cant take away from the fact that the civic isan ultra reliable automobile. I worked at a car auction when i was younger and have driven civics that ran almost like new it seemed only to look at the odometer and see like 375,000 miles !! lil off topic there but was just making a point

 

i know they have the reliable thing going for them. dont really think so much of the new stuff they make but cant they take the reliable motors and put them in an updated chasis ? its liekt ehy never heard of ground clearance or suspension travel. but then as i think of that i think of the response from my brother and the others that have bought Honda lately without electric shift or the auto versions. it seems like the honda thinkers dont want honda to improve their machines cause "it'll be more to tear up " so Honda maybe on the reight track by taking half a century to change their line-up.

by the way i dont mean to bash Honda or any brand ( except maybe Polaris hehe ) i'm just at work today and wishing i was riding so bad. i can just hear the mud calling my name ! cant you hear it ?

I just told my brother to at least get one size bigger tires. any stockers i think are junk for real riding.
and to get the winch deal and i will pay for it if he doesnt want it. which i'm sure he wouldn't cause "it'd be something else to tear up"

just enjoy whatever brand you ride and be careful.

oh and by the way have fun kicking the 450 everytime. oh yeah, that's right, its the yamaha that has electric start and weighs less and will out run it ! go figure another Honda rider that likes the minimum!

 

Well name calling isn't nice but when you come into a honda forum and say somebodys 5k-7k honda is like a minimum coverage insurance commercial what do you expect ?
watch what happens to me when i go do something similar in a yamah forum.. we will call this a controlled experiment
