And get this, when i bought the quad the oil pump was shot and i had to replace the head, rockers and cam. Very pricy!! Now i think i have did it again!! I am pissed. I wonder if i can adjust the valves to quiet them if they are not that badly damaged.

I'm Sure you could adjust the valves if you are a decent mechanic (I don't know what your skills are). Buy a repair manual if you don't already have one. That will help you adjust the valves at least.

I will get the mech. to do that i have done enough damage. I cant believe that filter does not have any markings on it for direction.

What brand of filter was it? Most of them are marked "This Side Out" on the plastic end of the filter.

A few people have done this over the years. If the valves are ticking, I would say you have scored the cam. Adjusting the valves might help for a while, but I bet you have lots of other damage.

I believe the brand of filter was emgo?? It was from royal dis. All it said was " top" Whatever that means. does "top" point in or out?? Well now i know its not in. I guess it doesn't take long to do damage. All over a 3 dollar filter. Man i'm pissed.

Sorry to hear about your mistake . I would take it in and tell the service department what you did and have them check it out. You may get away with a simple valve adjustment...or you may be into it for a little more. At least you will know what needs to be worked on for sure. That way you will have the piece of mind knowing that all potential problems have been dealt with.

Good luck.
