Default ELKA Shocks

I was looking at the ELKA website. What is the difference between single rate and dual rate shocks?

Default ELKA Shocks

The "rate" is usually the number of springs on each shock body. Single rate is one shock, as on most stock quads, although some quads offer dual rate, but only one spring, just at different tensions at either end of the spring. By elka's standards, the rate is the number of springs on the shock. If you're considering elka's, I strongly recommend the triple-rate shocks. There are 3 springs, one for high impact absorbancy, one for small impact, and i believe the other is for preload or its just an intermediate tension spring between the high and low inpact springs. Single rate is kind of a waste of money, dont get me wrong, its way better than stock, but if you're going to spend money on aftermarket suspension, pony up the extra ~$100 and get triple-rates. Any more questions, just ask elka yourself, they're amazing to work with, they really live up to their reputation for customer service.
