You are right, the rancher actually runs all of the time, doesnt have any belt issues or bad torque converters, it's light enough to actually move without a winch, it's small enough to get through tight trails and off trail obstacles, and it doesnt cost 6k.

Gears only "messed up" once while I owned mine, over 3 years. All you have to do is rock the quad back and forth for about a 1/2 of a second and it will kick in to gear and you are ready to go.

The low end power is excellent and has no problem pulling 600lb atv's out of waterholes. You can also haul hundreds of pounds in a trailer with ease.

Some ignorant people have never ridden these machines, and they simply reply by spitting out every bad thing or every good thing they have ever heard about a quad on these forums or others. So feel free to ignore warriorbansheeboy's statement.

 

A 2003 honda 350 should be a good buy, dependable , light, tough , and fast for its motor size. you should be riding and enjoying it for years to come.

 

That's a great price! I bought mine brand new for $5500 out the door.Don't pay attention the the guy that says no power,gears mess up.This is my 4th quad,and it's buy far the best.One thing to remember when buying a atv these days is the size.Sure you can buy a bigger machine but if you have to move it ,trailer it, put gas in it,all those things come into play.you can't go wrong with the rancher

 

The Rancher is nothing compared to some larger 4X4 off-road vehicles! Take a Jeep Wrangler for example. The Jeep has more top end speed than the Rancher and can tow more. It has a stereo, AC and heat! Jeeps therefore are much better than Ranchers!

My Cummins diesel Dodge Ram Heavy Duty is waaay better than a Rancher. It has more torque, more horsepower and more top end speed.

Look, I have nothing against larger displacement, high performance quads - to each their own. Sometimes we lose sight over what a quad has to offer in terms of maneuverability, agility, portability, economy and the like. Bigger is not always better.

Depending on your application, something along the lines of a Rancher (or equivalent in a different brand) is fine. For trail riding, hunting and ultility work a Rancher is great! For plowing and pulling a heavy mower around in mud, I have decided on a Rubicon, but the Rancher we have is superb for the hunting, trail riding and general ulility uses we put it through.

A bigger quad may be faster, heavier and have more bragging rights, but why use a one-inch drive ratchet when a 3/8ths is better suited ot the task at hand?

 

luv minei have a k & n w/prefilter and rejetted no promblems, can keep up with bigger bikes through the woods , but not on long straightways.[img]i/expressions/face-icon-small-cool.gif[/img]

If you want a racing machine, don't buy a utility machine. Buy the size that meets your needs. But don't bash a 350 by saying it doesn't do what a 650 does. That's talking like an idiot.

what do you mean by gears messed up? occasionaly my recon wont shift (down), you stand on the pegs, give it a rock, and your all set again,,,, no biggy in my book, there are so many plus's to the honda utilitys, they are bulletproof machines, my friend has at least 3k on his recon, with the exception of it needind new brakes it awsome. (you may want discs thoug,,,,,the bigger they get the harder it is to stop on drums.)

 

No mater what Amy body says this quad has great power I pulled my friends 2003 f150 2x4 v6 out of the mud and I have rode this thing since I was 8 and still bow when I'm 17 the only thing I have had to do to it was a new battery and new tires. And starts every time
