My question is If you where put in my situation would you do it? I have a 99 400ex, E-Series full system, DG nerfs, Works shocks (all), +2 Burgard A-arms, Axcaliber +2 axle, Race maier plastic,DG front bumper, Motion Pro twist, Jetted, Just put lonestar twin bearing carrier in, Anti-fade lock hub, other misc. items.
For a 87 250r, very clean, runs great i've riden it!, FMF gold series midrange pipe, new plastic, no welded spots on frame that i could see. Basically stock except for pipe. I had told him I would put my 400 back to basic stock. He would keep the E-Series system and DG bumper, stock plastic.
Hopefully all the other items would fit on the R.
What would you do?

uve put so much into YOUR 400ex and its YOURS I would just keep the quad. youve made the mods. all that money and work go worthless or reinstalled (if possible in the 250r). i guess if u could move everything to the R then yes but i dont know if u can

It depends on how you ride. I just got an 86 250R. They are a real beeeeeeotch to ride at first. They are alot of work to maintain, but fast as hell. You will love the power once your used to it. I love mine. If you wants some awesome front shocks for it buy ohlins. Mine are fully adjustable (pre., reb, comp.) I couldn't be happier. Oh, by the way that 400 is alot easier to ride, but not nearly as wild.

Keep the EX, unless you reall know where that R's been and whose hands it has been in. I would love to own an R but to buy a 14-11 year old quad that is run full out almost all the time is not for me.

If you are a agressive rider go with the 2-stroke bike.

actualty 250R parts are very easy to find. have you ever opened a dirtwheels, every other page is full of 250R parts for sale. Also you can still buy just about every oem part new still, some have been discontinued though. But they might not be the cheapest parts though. I guess thats the price you pay to own the best atv every made acorrding to the mags.

I think you should keep your 400ex but if you want a 2 stroke than get a newer banshee for a good price. Banshee is alot funner to ride than R.
banshee screams like hell!!
P.s. I have rode Banshee before they are great quads!

Two things to keep in mind. 1: the price for a brand new 250r back in the days didn't even break 3 grand with tax. 2: maintence. 2 strokes are fun, just alot of work, if you want it to preform at the level that it can.

if your really sold on it, then i'd try to get some money out of the guy also.
