Default Buying a2001 rubicon

I am looking at buying a 2001 rubicon. Can you experts let me now what some of the things I should be looking at on the machine before I buy it. It has mud bugs (not sure of size yet), K& N filter and he has jetted it. Word around town is he doesn't abuse his machine but he does like the mud (so do I).

Thanx for your help,

shmoky

Come on guys....can't anyone help me out here? Surely someone has some info. I'm just asking for some trouble spots to check out before I buy it. I know nothing about Hondas and since my AC was stolen I haven't looked at anything until now.

We have an 01 Rubicon with about 4850 miles on it. I have spent a total of $5.95 for one worn upper control arm bushing, thats it as far as repairs.

Change the oil and filter at least every 500 miles, no synthetics. Follow the maint schedule.

We love ours. We have been 110% satisfied. Hope you enjoy yours.

Great machine. If he likes the mud, I would check brakes, bearings, differentials, etc. Anything prone to wear and tear from water and mud. Check under the seat and in and around the airbox to see how much he rode in the mud as this is typically where a lot of the riding debris seems to collect and not get cleaned out.

Thanks guys.

Specta: Great to hear that you like your machine and having no problems.

Red Goblin: thanx..... Just the type of info I was looking for. I will look under the seat and around the air box next time I see the bike. He seems to be working too much for us to hook up and to get another look at it for now But will check the areas you suggested when I do get to see it again.

Thanx again,

shmoky

sorry to here you lost your cat
to check the breaks theres a little red plug by the wheel nuts you pop that out and you can check the lineings but i dont think that will tell you if mud and water is getting in.
you might have to take the wheels and drums off to see that.
i think youll like the rubicon.
i know i love mine.
