Default Oil in Stator/Pickup Coil?

I bought a 86 250 fourtrx and I have no spark. When I took the left side crank case cover off there was oil pressent. Can this prevent me from having a spak?

Some stators are oil bathed. Get a service manual and check it out!

On Yamaha's the stator is oil soaked. Check the fibre wrapping for tears and check near the plastic top and bottom. Chances are the could be leakage. If you need a new stator check out this site first. www.rmstator.com . I had my stator checked out and rewound and it has performed flawlessly for close to 3 months now. The funds marked on the site are U.S and there is a 3 month guarantee.
