Default RINCON AUTO/ESP QUESTIONS???

Considering a Rincon, but have some questions. I'v been told that in the auto mode the trans is a 3 speed. How many gears are there in the ESP mode? Can you shift from auto to ESP and back on the fly, or do you have to stop. In ESP mode is there any engine breaking under 8MPH. Thanks for your help.

The auto is a 3 speed but if you use the ESP you shift between 5 gears on the fly. There is a RPM limiter, however, that only allows you to shift between certain RPM ranges. In other words you couldn't go 45 mph and just down shift a couple of times from 5th into 2nd. You must let the engine speed slow down first. Yes there is engine braking under 8 mph just not musch froom what I hear. Just curious, why a Rincon? Don't get me wrong Honda will always be my first choice.

I'm taking mine back in today and get the other two forward gears they forgot to give me! They are probably on the salesman's desk somewhere.

That's a good one. 3 in auto, 5 in ESP
BS400ex, we'll let you get away with that one...........

Rincon has 3 speed whether in Auto or ESP.
You can shift on the fly.
I'm pretty sure that when you shift FROM auto to ESP on the fly, it puts you in whatever gear you are in.
In other words, if you shift from auto to ESP, it doesn't take you to 1st gear. If you are doing 45 mph, it will put you in 3rd gear when you shift INTO ESP.
It seems to work pretty well, I've never had any problems shifting that way. I like it.

Good Luck

Default RINCON AUTO/ESP QUESTIONS???

Forgot to answer your second part.

The Rincon has no low speed Engine Breaking. Honda made this thing as a SUV.
If you need to crawl along at very slow speed, as in a steep and/or technical trail, all you have is your brakes.
There is no EB, no matter what anybody says. Some have tried to say if you blip the throttle or keep on it, you will have some EB....... No way, nada, nothing.

It does have some EB while cruising along at faster speeds. It works great while cruising along on fast trails or logging roads. I love it that way.

This thing handles great, is fast, has the best suspension. I love the ride.
But again, it is an SUV quad. That's why Honda has the Rubicon, Rancher, and Foreman also.
