Default Kimpex Trunk (Seat)

I've been looking hard at the Kimpex Deluxe Trunk (the one with the very nice seat). Outside of the price, I like it a lot. One question though - How much of the ATV seat does the Kimpex seat take up???

I've seen several folk's picture pages who have this trunk, but on each one, it looks like the trunk's seat is taking about 4 or 5 inches of ATV seat. Have you found this to be a problem? Does it cause you to ride too far forward?

I really appreciate any comments you may have.

I've wondered this too. My concern is how hard is it to take the seat off with this trunk on? Does the seat lift out to allow the factory seat to be removed? Or does the trunk itself need to be removed?

Hi . I have this seat ( see Photos ) . I love it . The seat does take up a little of the real seat...but the kimpex part is removable with two quick release buckles...the box stays on ..just the part that hangs over the drivers seat clips out. I normally just lift it up out of the way without unclipping it. The Kimpex deluxe is Very rugged and takes abuse very well. I was looking at a more expensive box/seat but the dealer told me that it would not hold up as well as the kimpex.

I paid $ 250 Canadian....$ 204 US plus taxes

Thanks for responding PinkMoon! With the the Kimpex seat unbuckled and removed, do you have access to the entire ATV seat? Also, if you remove the Kimpex seat, will it fit into the trunk? Can you just fold it up against the backrest?

Thanks!

Hi. Yes you will have the entire seat and Yes it will fit in the trunk ( it is only the bottom bum part of the seat that you take off ) .WIth the seat on you only loose 3-4 inches of the driver seat

Hi Pinkmoon,

Love your quad (I have one just like it)! I looked at your pics and didn't notice any footpegs with the Kimpex seat. Will the passenger's feet touch? I have been thinking about a trunk/seat, but really don't want to add the pegs. Thanks!

I have that seat as well. I do not have to remove the Kimpex cushion to take off the seat of my quad, and yes it hangs about 3 or 4 inches over. I did not have to move up the seat while sitting either, my back is right at the end of the Kimpex cushion.

The only downfall of the seat, is the locks!! In my group, there is 6 of us that have the same seats, and 5 of us have had the locks fall out while driving. One of my friends just bought the quad/seat, drove to the first stop, about 3 miles, and one lock had fallen out already. The only guy that hasn't had a problem with them, has had his seat for over a year, not one problem. We went to the local truck parts store, and bought a t bar type latch, identical to what you see holding the hoods down on transports, except it is only a 2" one.

Hi. I have the fender guards on my wheeler now. It was ok without them but my girls boots would slide down and we would have to stop to fix them once in a while. I went a while before getting the fender guards and foot rests and had no real problems. I like the way the fender guards protect the rear end of the wheeler. I have had NO problems with my trunk locks. two of my riding buddies have the same trunk and have still got their original locks . Maybe they changed the designed or we just got lucky ?

Pinkmoon,
Will this trunk fit my 1988 Honda Fourtrax 2X4? I have the standard flat racks in the back and front. I am also trying to find a front box also.

We are planning another trip to Tin Cup Pass this summer but this time I am going to go prepared!! This trunk box looks like it will be the perfect accessory for us. Last time we used a little pillow on the back for my wife and she was very uncomfortable. We also had to use straps to tie all the gear on. Not a real good thing when you are climbing on the trails.

Thanks...

I have the Kimpex seat. It is great.

Locks got sticky. Had to hit them to open. Sprayed them with WD40. No problem now , opens easily and smooth.

Light lense started to melt right above the bulb. Unpluged it. I then broke the lense in an accident. When I replaced it, (lense, base, fixture and bulb) I noticed that both elements in ther bulb were both lit with just the tail lights on. Something was wrong. This should be a combination tail light and brake light. Found the bulb from Kimpex was faulty. Shorted betweeen both elements. If the old bulb was faulty also, that would explain the melting lense (both element on all the time / heat buildup). Anyway, I haven't tried a new bulb yet. Does this sound right or am I way off base.

This seat is durable. I had an accident two weeks ago. Ended up with 4-wheeler pointing straight in the air, backwards to a steep hill with the seat back up against a tree. The seat back was the only thing keeping me from being crushed. In this case the seat was a blessing. Anyway the seat held firm to the racks. I thought the u-bolts would have at least started to rip or pull through the box, but no. It looked like nothing happened.

I also have the side rails and footpegs. Huntin' buddies think they are at home in their lazyboy. Be sure to lift footpegs before getting off your machine. This could really hurt if you don't.
