I picked up a stock 88 that looked almost that good for 3000 in New Mexico about a month ago. It has been ridden, but not hard and well maintained. Mostly sand dunes, has the original tires on it. However, the frame is cracked. Can anybody tell me at what point do you replace the frame rather than repair it? I am 6'2" and 210lbs and I ride it hard.

Hey, that site is great, very informative. I guess that I don't have to spend mega bucks to get over 40 ponies out of my 250R. Looks like a carb, FMF Ram Valve, and FMF pipe and it's close to 50 real world measured on the Dyno, stick that in your Raptor pipe and smoke it, horsepower. Thanks. By the way, what does a stock 250R crank out?

Anyone looking for a clean fast 250r, I know where there is a great deal on one. A buddy of mine from elko nv. is going through some tough times and needs to get rid of his '87 250R, it has a paul turner motor, fmf fatty, works shocks, larger carb, the list goes on. I know for a fact you could pick it up for mid 3's. I have some pictures but they aren't close up, mostly action.

bpace, I am looking into buying a lightweight, nimble, near perfect handling, very fast 2-stroke MX quad. In the magazines, I see MX 250R's. They are running aftermarket frames. If I wanted a quad like these, what would it take? How much would it cost? What would it weigh?

Buy a used 250R, buy the frame or frame components, have the motor sent to Trinity for a 400cc kit, assemble the quad myself? How are the pros building their 250R's? Are they using blueprinted aftermarket motors?

According to what I have found out, a full-on stock 250R puts out about 36hp. Add a few bolt-on goodies (reeds, pipe & silencer, carb, etc)and you still have a dependable machine that puts out more than 45!
