Heat Tape on the oil tank
#3
Hey Gabe its Ethan...Remember me from Radical robs? Number 97 parked right by you....Well anyway was riding yesterday to make sure my Pipe wasnt going to burn a hole in my new white plastic and Had to do a bit rewiring due to removing the kill switch and notice how hot the oil tank was...I wonder if it would help or just be a waste of money or would it keep the heat in the oil tank? And have a negative affect?

CONTACT HIGH LIFTER OR GO TO AN AUTOMOTIVE SPEED SHOP AND GET SOME HEADER WRAP. IT CUTS DOWN HEAT OFF THE PIPE BY 70 PERCENT AND INCREASES HEAT IN THE PIPE WHICH FLOWS BETTER AND ADDS HP.2-5 PERCENT INCREASE I'VE HEARD.I DID IT, IT LOOKS COOL(USE HIGH HEAT COATING),RUNS COOLER,BETTER POWER AND STAYS MORE CONSISTANT.IT WORKS!

Yep, I remember, I didn't even notice in your profile it said you were from Nixa....
Hope everything's going well....
Like HRC said, the header wrap is probably a good idea, I think some reflective tape like you mention wouldn't hurt either. I've been meaning to get one of those infrared temperature measuring devices and do some experimenting, just haven't gotten around to it yet.
Some of the guys here are running a 3qt Pingry<sp?> tank that has some cooling holes in it, maybe Rob (TRX440) will reply here. I have some pics of his if you are interested. e-mail me if you want to see....
