The header pipe/ exhaust story for a 300EX
#1
I am about ready to add an aftermarket pipe and silencer on my stock 1995 300EX. I need to know what combo of a header pipe and muffler will add the most power and hp to my 300. I read on RCR's webpage for a 300EX, a powroll header comboed w/ a 3" supertrapp system produces the most power of any system on the market. I've also heard praises put on the Big Gun exhaust systems. But now I need your opinions. I would like to have an increase on the bottom, mid and top end, but I definitely want it from the mid-range up to the top-end. So all you 300EX owners out there start typing please. I need all the opinions i can get. Any suggestions you can give will be great.

The hardest part of buying aftermarket stuff is which one to get. My experience with pipes is the DG and Supertrapp IDS 2. Both come with header pipes. The DG gave my 300 gobs of low end, not much from mid on up. God awful loud to. Now the Supertrapp on the other hand was tunable. I ran mine with 12 discs, K&N with open airbox and a main jet of 130. Big improvement over stock and over the DG as well. Even though the pipe was setup for top end I was able to climb hills in 3rd, whereas with the DG I had to downshift to 2nd. The pipe is very quiet to. I would recommend this pipe to anyone looking to improve their 300EX.

If money is no object, get the White Brothers E-series(COMPLETE SYSTEM), otherwise, the FMF megamax is a pretty good pipe for the money. If you do much jumping, stay away from DG. Mine fell apart after 1 month. I have also heard good things about the Supertrapp mentioned above.
