Default 2005 Recon

Are they available yet?
Also, what is the top speed of a recon?

I am not sure if they are available yet or not. They will top out at around 45-47mph. They are really nice atv's. My friend owns one and I am amazed at the places he can go with it. That may not seem like that high of a top speed, but the recon is all about bottom-end power. This makes it perfect for trails as its torque can get you up some steep hills.

yeah, when my 250 was stock it went bout 50-54 mph, and considering the recons and 250's have the same engine in them it should be about the same

They have the same engine but the 250EX is 50lbs lighter and it has taller gearing. That will account for the higher top speed. The 250EX's 3rd,4th,and 5th gear are higher than the recon's. My neighbor owns a 250ex and it will go about 52mph.

I Have a Recon and i know they werent built for speed. With good weather conditions and runnin smooth mine will go about 45(i use a gps handheld) . But they are the best for trail riding. the gears are also very short. Off the line there one of the quickest in its class.
