just went to a shop and found a rev box in stock $120 out the door. Is this mod worth it with a pipe? are you really into the limiter that much? Does it do anything other than bump up the rev limit?

yes it is worth it, it increases your top end quite a bit. i rode my friends w/ a pipe and then rode it after he got the rev box, we both noticed it a lot. An even better mod for $15 from sparksracing.com is to buy a timing advance key. It also comes w/ a flywheel puller bolt. get the key too, trust me.

The stock XR 250 Rev. box is the same as the WB's. Honda #30410-KCE-671. You can buy it for much less than the WB's.

I haven't done this personally, but there was a post in here a while back covering the same topic.

Yea he is right, the WB version is basically putting a decal on the stock CDI for a 250X. Dont buy from White Bros get it cheaper from Honda.

It is the XR250 CDI. You can probably pick it up at your deal for about $80.

Can someone answer the rest of "400EXMAN's" question? I too wonder the same thing. How much would the rev. box actually help a bike that really wasn't modded much? Would it be worth it?

What about the stock springs, could they handle the new box?

I'd use if just for the timing advance, but don't run the motor against it! I've seen people do this, and it is just plain wrong! Nothing like pushing the envelope, but I wouldn't run against the limiter just go faster.

But as I said, the timing advance is worth it.

After looking at some dyno's in GT Thunder, the horsepower drops like a bad habbit after 8000rpm's. If so, what good is the EX at 10,000rpm's @ 15hp? Food for thought.
