Is it going to be getting cooler here soon, so what should i do? I have been using honda's GN-4 10w40. If i let this go to long will it harm the engine? synthetic or non synthetic? petroliem or 1/2 synthetic?? Honda oil? What about gn-4 20w50? will it be ok to run this in the winter???
Also i heard castrol 20w50 is good... but i don't want to put the wrong stuff in my bike.
PS: I know oil is burning because the plug is all black around the electrode, but the white thing underneather the electrode is a brownish tint (jetted correctly).
PLZ help!! thx

If the oil is breaking down and getting past the rings, it can't be a good thing.
Personally I run 15w50 Mobil1 year round. If it's really cold out I will give the engine a really good warmup period. Synthetic has far better cold pumpability than similar conventional.
If you are concerned about that being too heavy, run it for now and when it starts getting really cold, switch to a lighter viscosity, I still recommend synthetic though....
Also keep in mind that Synthetic blends were not developed for any other reason than to meet a price point. The EX only takes 2 quarts, get the good stuff if you are going to do it.
