I wish Honda would release a little information about the new models coming out on the 14th. It doesn't make any sense that they're so secretive--it's not as if another manufacturer can quickly slap something together to upstage them at the show in Las Vegas. Yo Honda, ya reading this? Give us a few grainy pictures! Sheesh!

Could you Imangine a 2001 TRX250R? They would sell out before they even arrived! That would be sweet!

Still don't understand why they can have a 250 motor in a bike, but not in a 4 wheeled vehicle.
I'm baffled!

Remember, Honda promised us a new quad for 2001 besides the Rubicon. So something is on the way.

I have a question, how do you guys know that Honda intends on releasing a 2001 *ATV* model? Is this speculation of a ATV model release based on hope or is there something in writing or pictures that this is based on?

There was a article in one of the mags (I think DW) about there being one more model for the year 2001.

Shift, why do you say no one wants a 4x4 recon? I think it would be a great addition to the lineup for those who want a 4x4 but are satisfied with the agility, performance, size and price range of a rock solid machine such as the Recon. The addition of perhaps 35-40 lbs of weight would not be much of a detriment to this snappy quad. It would also be a competitor for the only real alternative in this class, namely the polaris 250 4x4.

Thoughts from anyone? Kevin

Speeddemn440,
If there is absolutely no new quad coming out, then why would you say the next thing Honda is coming out with is a 650ex? I don't understand the point you are trying to make in the post. I heard that Honda was doing some hot weather testing in Arizona last month. One of the bikes was an "XR650 quad". Another was the new RC450 motocross bike. Here are some other possibilities; Honda had an RC400 ready before the outdoors kicked off but no one at Honda wanted to ride it. With the larger 450 set for release, maybe the new 400 will go into a new XR. Maybe down the road, they will put the new dohc 400/450 into a trx frame but I would seriously doubt it could happen until 2002. And for any of you doubters remember, I'm the one who broke the news of the Raptor. [Although I was told it was gonna be called the Apache] Anyways, we'll know within the week. Let the rumors fly!

It is a 400cc motorcross bike to TRY to compete with the YZ426. I hope it is not a 650EX. wow you would gain maybe 10hp over the 400ex. BIg deal. Put a exhaust filter, plug and there is close to the same power. Honda is not woried about the Raptor or the DS because the 400EX is one of the best out there right now, and it is the best woods/trail machine, that is what Honda is woried about, Not speed. Hopefully it will be a few years before a new sports quad comes out, because if it is a sports quad they are just making it to compete with the DS and Raptor, it would be better for them to wait and create a whole new engine/frame to DESTROY them.
