Good beginners quad. Rather slow, good stability, great reliability.
A 300EX would be a better choice, IMHO.

My two Teen age sons have 250ex. They are a great quad for kids just starting out. No problems at all with them They are pretty much bullet proof. My oldest kind of out grew it when he turned 16.

My godson loves his. WE just got in from riding a few minutes ago. Real steep and rough powerlines, deep mudholes, and slick leafy mountain side trails that have been made to get around the inpassable ones. I ride a 4wd Foreman, mY friend Ben rides a Foreman Rubicon 4wd. Logan goes everywhere we go on the sportrax 250ex. It takes a little more skill for him to get through it all, but he and the 250 can do it all. Its the fasted of the three mentioned here too!. They are no slouch, thats for sure. He doesnt know it but i have him itp10 wheels with mudlite tires one inch taller for christmas. that should help even more trail riding!

i own a 01 250ex and IMO it is the greates quad for anyone to start out on...its not the fastest one in the bunch but i will beat my dads sportsman 400 and have that little zip to get the front end up....and it will go anywhere...i follow my dads quad and all of his friends with their big 4X4's...sure it beats me up and i get tired but its no problem...ive had it since i was 13 and now since im 15 goin on 16 im thinking of selling it to get a 500 scrambler 4X4...but it is the greatest quad in its grouping...and its bullet proof since its a honda....

Basically, the 250ex is the child of the Recon and the 1986 200sx. It's got the engine of the Recon 250 and the sportyness of the 200sx. I have a Honda 250 (1986 engine) and it seriously is a bulletproof engine. It pulls pretty good, but my bike is pretty heavy so it doesn't pull extremely hard. But I could go for a taller gearing...

A great entry level machine. The suspension has its limitations tough, so you don't want to push it to hard. Lose the balooney tires though.

My only complaint on ours is it not having any grease fittings. After a few rides it squeaks real bad. Then you have to take it apart and lube the bushings.

yea its just for fooling around on. and i want one thats bulletproof so i can drive it hard and through alot so thats also why i was thinkin the 250ex. I also heard they are wheelie machines and great in the mud which is also a plus lol
