How will a 400ex do up against a shee?
#21
i know lets race a banshee against a 400ex through natural terrain untill either one runs out of gas....maybe if yamaha figured out how to take all the raw fuel and oil that spits out of the pipes of a banshee and put it back in the tank it might have a chance!!! there is nothing good about the banshee besides strait line horse power....cmon it utilizes engineering that was new in the early 70's....times are'a changin'

Honda chose perfect gear spacing for 1st 2nd and 3rd gears. Nothing stock is gonna run away from a 400ex through 3rd gear. My personal experience is the 400ex runs with or in front of the Banshee through 3rd gear on asphalt. Then it gets stupid quick. When the 400ex shifts into 4th gear the Banshee does not casually drive by, it rips by. May as well get off the punk throttle because it's over.

Amen dude. I got to call BS on this one. My buddy has a brand new 660 rappy and he can beat my 400 by like maybe 1/2quad length. Throw in a turn some jumps, he is mine. A rappy 80 beating a 400ex. Dude, you drank too much montain dew today.
Listen, Shees' are flat out drag race dune buggys'...... Period.
400ex is a baja style quad. They were developed off of the 250R frame with the 400XR engine dropped in it. Honda got sick of guys winning the Baja1000 with this set up, so they started producing them. That was the start of the reliable 'big boy' class. I don't think the Banshee has ever even finished a baja.
So in closing, what they were intended for they were both fantastic. But it is like comparing apples and oranges. If I had sand dunes in my back yard, I am going with a Banshee. If got woods and hills and jumps in my back yard I am getting a 400ex.

No nothing is wrong withit. Have you ever raced a400ex? Stock for stock and rappy will beat a 400 ex by maybe one bike length. He beats me by less, cause he is like 160 lbs. and can't get his rear end to hook up. Go run em if you haven't, you will be surprised. Now his rappy has tons more torque than the 400ex adn can climb better, but yammy didn't give em the right gearing in my estimation.

Sorry, but a stock z would have a hard time getting that close to a stock raptor, let alone a 400ex.

Maybe the laws of physics are different where you guys ride, but he raced my 03 and Todd's 02, both with the same results. 1/2-1.5 quad lengths, depending on who hooked up best or got the best hole shot.
Look man, I am not married to this thing. I am actually thinking about getting the YFZ 450 in spring 05. I don't feel like less of a man if I lose a drag race on my quad, so I don't really care. I am just telling you what happened. Personally I don't see the big deal about the Kawsucat or the Rappys compared to the 400ex (except reverse). But the rappy could climb a tree if you can hang on to it. I know they are a little faster topend and start to walk away around fourth. But I see my buddies taken there's to the shop alot more than I do. Now the YFZ made me pee a little bit.
Arguiing on the internet is like competing in special olympics. Even if you win, you are still retarded.
