You will notice a huge difference - no matter what your engine mods. If you dont believe me, just ask someone for one to borrow. I promise you'll be a believer after you do that. Thats one of the funnest things I do when I go to the dunes - let someone borrow my CDI box. They come back and cant believe it. Its true, on the dyno you'll only notice 1 or 2 hp at most, but the increase in torque is good too. Most guys will do an exhuast at the same time, but its not required - and very VERY noticeable.

Have you ever tried another CDI?

I gotta agree with you because this guy let me ride his 400ex with a FMF pipe, K&N, jetted, and a White Bros. CDI, and it was very quick. It felt like it pulled alot harder and longer. I was pretty impressed with it. I'm gonna get one after I get a Cam (thinking stage 2 hotcam) and High Compression piston(thinking Ross 11:1).

The rev box is a plug in and ride item but the cdi should be set with timing curves and max rpm settings.

The CDI is the Rev box. They are the same - it controls ignition timing and also the rev limit.

Speed,

Most shops carry the Big Gun and White Brothers CDI. For my quad, the White Brothers is a pretty good box. The Big Gun tends to be more power on top, but less on the bottom. The White Bros seems to have a little more bottom end, which is great for me at the start of a race. For total top end riding, the Big Gun works best.

The CDI/Rev Box is located in the the nose facia. Its a black box with two plugs on it that are housed in a rubber sleave. Slide out the old one, unplug it, and plug in the new one and put it back in the sleave. I've done it so much I can to it without even looking at it - It takes me about 20 seconds to swap them out.

The average cost of a single program CDI with better power curve on the top of the RPM range is about $110-120 . Procomm, one of the advertisers here, also sells them. Lots of shops and internet sites have them too.

So ur saying that the red rev box that I bought from big gun is a cdi? Or If I buy a cdi it will have a rev limiter built in? Please clairify

If you have a Big Gun rev box - that IS the CDI - they are the same. You already have the larger power curve for high RPM power over the stock rev box/cdi. The terms "Rev Box" and "CDI" are used interchangeably in this industry.

I had it on when I was a 406 bore and a pipe and filter There's no way that a cdi will make as nearly as much difference as a cam and big bore.. Yes the one I have is non programable but still not that huge difference.
