They say that history repeats itself. Lets think back to 1986. Honda had the 250r a very nice bike. Everybody had to have one. Then one year later, this big yellow bike with a screamin 500cc engine came out. Now this was the bike everybody wanted until the Yamaha boys put out their version of a monster bike. So now it was a battle of the big bore. Would the faithfull Honda riders switch over? No way dude!! We shall wait for Honda to put the cr500 in a 4wheeler...
But they waited and waited. It never happened.
Skip ahead to present day. Honda came out with the 400ex.. Hooray!! Honda had just built the bike of all bikes. No reason for anybody to make any more atvs because this is the one to set all the standards... or is it? Now, there is a big yellow atv with 650cc of petro burning cylinder, a woppin and a barking. Oh no.. now Yamaha sent the bird of prey with 660 and another battle of the big bore.
Shall we Honda folk wait again for the xr650 in an atv......the wait is on again.

You know, you have a good Point! I thought about waiting for that big 650ex. But why should I when I can get a 400ex for 5100.00 out the door? My wife has a 400ex and we love it, so I say, If its not broke dont fix it! How can I go wrong by buying another 400ex. (But in Yellow) Yea I could wait for the 650ex but who knows by then ATV's may be outlawed. Especially if A**hole Gore becomes President. lets try to keep that from happening. For now ride like hell and ride red.

you only look at gore's plans from your perspective.... How he is taking land and guns..

I too don't like gore, and if i was old enough would vote for bush, however; My mom, on the other hand is a teacher, and bush's futur plans for eduaction are horrible, and scary. We're talking, people without a college eduation teaching my kids!!! Schools would not be public, so there would be no college degree level!!..

gotta go, later

If my memory serves me right, the 250R (new) cost around, maybe a little under $3000. Dont ya wish you could go back and buy them up by the dozen.

Not to start an argument c400ex1234 but tell Mom Gore wants to trample the constitution (2nd amendment) and once that is done who knows where that Pandora's box will lead this country.

I gotta side with 400freak. Just how is Bush's plan scary? The part about letting parents decide which school to send their kids to? The part about not just throwing more and more money into schools that aren't teaching anybody anything. Just listen to Gore his answer to everything is more government regulation, and more government money (read more taxes and less control for us). Sounds like somebody has been hearing the 'risky scheme' sound byte too much. Also, Bush's plan isn't about letting teachers without college degrees teach, it is about letting some people without teaching degrees teach, if they are otherwise qualified. On the surface this sounds bad, but it really isn't. They have to be qualified on the subject, just not necessarily having to have a teacher's certificate. One example: My cousin helped build the Raptor - the Air Force's newest super jet fighter. Now retired, she offered to go to a high school as a teacher's aid for a few weeks(for free) and try to inspire some kids to take physics. She had some detail models of the plane, and such, but couldn't do it. Why? Because she wasn't certified to teach physics. Can build a plane, but not certified in physics. Klinton's requirements kept her out of the clasroom. Just my .02

I also agree. My parents suffered to send their five children through private religious schools. We paid our taxes, which pay for public schools, but never got a cent's worth of education from it. Private schools almost universally do a much better job educating children than public schools. Private schools are far more cost effective than public schools, probably because they aren't dominated by a teachers' union. Public school teachers around here can make up to $70,000 a year with ten weeks vacation every summer; but they cry like they are on the edge of poverty. What a lie.

Public school teachers have had their union put the fear into them with half-truths. I may offend some with this statement, but it is true - Unions commonly spread fear with misguided half-truths, the only thing the union is interested in is keeping members so that they can draw their dues (keep in mind I am a union member, I see the propaganda all the time).

Around here, the private schools on average have more highly educated teachers than public, why on earth would people choose to put their children into a private school with ignorant teachers? Why do private schooled people commonly graduate early? How can a higher teacher to student ratio be bad?

If a person has the right to choose where to send their children (without having to worry about the affordability), there will be no less demand for teachers, maybe less demand for public school teachers, but a person that is sharp and has degrees will be able to find a teaching job, maybe just at a private school insead. You see, the private schools are not union, therefore the union must attack the idea in order to not lose their market share. The thing that School Teachers should fear is home schooling, but then again if the current system were working, there would be very few home schoolers.

When has choice ever been bad? What if there were only utility quads to ride, would that be better than the situation we have now?

Another bunch of half-truths spread by the liberals...

A little backgroud on me:
I am a product of public schools, I was bored out of my mind, could have done much more - grad '92 slacked my way to 6th in my class (not trying at all), went on to a tech school. I have a sister that was private schooled (high school years) - finished a year early - took a year off, currently in a State University. I currently have a little brother that is home schooled.

hey, yeah, i'll tell her that, and she will not like it any more than i do.

but, tell your mom that her grandchilden, or great grandchildren will not recieve a good education because of bush..

think about it... you have 2 "teachers" applying for a job.. One says I have been through 6 years of college, and i am an expert on this subjuct, but you will have to pay 70,000 a year salary..

Then you get some other dude come up and say "I can do just as good of a job he can, and you'll only have to pay me 20,000 a year.

Many people think that teaching is some easy job. As it is now, teachers are underpaid.

---"Get 70,000 a year with paid vacation, then cry about it"
Who ever said that is messed up. I'll tell you what i hate, An Ignorant Redneck.... ohh yeah, they are pathetic. You have to look at both sides moron. I rather not be able to ride my quad than to be able to but live in poverty cuz my mom who is a silgle parent lost her job to some uneducated retard who wan't a little more than his welfare check.

ALSO- it takes about 30 years of teaching to reach the top of the scale. In my mom's districk the beginning salary is equal to the bus drivers.

AND IN CASE YOU STILL THINK YOUR TOUGH - My mom has been teaching for a number of years, and she is not the teacher that sits in her desk and lets the kids do work. If you don't belive me, look in "Who's Who" book that my mom has been in for the last 10 years.

I love to ride, but i rather not go hungry!
