Old 250R Owner needs input?
#1
All you 250R owners, I need some advice. The R finally gave in to age (smarter than I am), anyway I will fix it someday but for now I am tired of working on a quad all the time. So my dilemma is that I am considering the 450r. I know it is a great machine along with the 400EX, Z400, YFZ450, Raptor, Predator and others. But, tell me old 250r or LT250R or Tecate or Banshee owners does it have that same "kick in the butt, adrenalin pumping" acceleration that the two strokes have? Or will I feel like I am rideing my grandmothers Packard? My rideing conditions are Dunes, Trails and occasionally a track with family for fun. Thanks Guys.

ha ha. I had a Modded LT250R, and i have a Stock Raptor, and man, your going to fall in love with the Reverse,Electric Starting, and low matneince of the 4-strokes. And their way more comfortable. Good luck.

hey those new 4 strokes are really somethin, i have a honda 250r also and when i rode the new 450r i was blowin away its just like a two stroke, i mean it reaves even faster than a two stroke and they are real nice....i dont think you will regrit it, they ride really smooth and reave extremely fast and well i say go for it

I have also been kicking around the idea of selling my R and buying a 450R. I just don't know if I could part with my R since I built it from the ground up and there's sentimental value. I know it's faster than the 4-strokes but I'm not really into going fast anymore...getting old I guess

Hey Kajun, don't give up, you know what they say. "Youth and Ability are no match for Age and Treachery. I don't think I will let the R go, I think I may give it to a son-in-law, that way if I ever need to hear that two stroke whine, it won't be very far away

I've would never get rid of my trusty two stroke in favor of the new four strokes! I've got both and do as much maintenance on the four as I do the R. I wont even ride the raptor anymore, I loan it out to freinds or family. If you can keep the R because you'll end up going back to it.
PS Kajun nice ride

Thanks Hoppedrap! It would be HARD getting rid of my R. Anyway, I probally couldn't get what I would want for it anyway. I'm sure it's worth much more to me than anyone else.

Me and the Mrs are driving 300 miles tommorrow to buy another R. Dont get rid of it whatever you do. Too many people have bought the new 4-strokes only to go back wishing 6 months later they still had their trusty old bike. Keep it at least 6 months then see what happens. Just my .02.

I thought of getting rid of my R too but I just cannot do it. I just feel to safe on it. I can really mess up and it will save me. After you hit forty-five your reflexes slow down but the R does not. If I had to get another quad I would get a 450R.

Kajun - Hopp Nice rides!
I too have been kickin around the thought of a new 450R. I have a cash buyer that wants my 88 NOW. It would be a lateral move for me, but there aint nothing like my 88. Ive only had it since memorial weekend and want to spend more time on it.
I rode a 450R with a HRC kit on it and was unimpressed!! New four strokes just dont have the "hit" like your R. That is what I would miss.
