What does a 450R goe for? Really, Really Considering One.

I live in NJ.. and I was wondering what is the pricetag on a 450R is going for these days? I really want one. I was told out of the box the rear suspension needs to revalved and you'll want to buy an item to lower the rear. My buddy who is a proud owner of a DS said if there wasn't a plush Bombardier.. a 450R would be his 2nd choice quad. I may just take the dip. I rode the YFZ450 and despite all the ravings it has with it.... the Raptor is the last Yammie I will ever own.
Also do they make a Yellow and Black model? I can't seem to find it on the website.. but saw one at a dealer.

Well, chances are that the yellow one you saw was a new 400ex, because i don't think(although i could be wrong) that they make a yellow one. But they do make a black one, and , in my opinion, is the best looking quad out there.

Living in NJ, I assume you are mostly going to be trail riding? The R frame has great trail handling manners, but the motor is pipey and geared very tall, so you will need some gearing changes for the trail, and sometimes you will have to work the clutch. In stock form it is a little bit tippy, so I widened mine by getting ITP rims with a greater offset. The rear shock is my only complaint. Have not had a chance to revalve yet, but it needs it!

I'll be doing some trails, some sand, and prob a lot of MX riding this year. No it was a 450R I'm positive of what I saw. I don't like the black one actually, I prefer some tone to it. What does one go for? I understand the R and YFZ are priced near 7k in which I think it's a bit overpriced for a 450. I'm sure they are good quads but 7k is a bit high. I'm trying to see where I can possibly get one for the best bang for my buck.

Here in Ohio, in the latest issue of Cycle Trader, some dealerships are advertising them for $5299 plus tax.
I thought that they are available in yellow now, as well as black.

I think I need to trek to Ohio. It's a bit of a hike... but will make it fun.

You guys are going to make me go to that dealer and take a snapshot... It's clearly a 450R. The nose on a 400 EX is where the lights are on a 450R. I saw lights in that area...
I was told there is a place in NY that has them OTD no tax (cause in diff state) 5800.00. Me and a bud may get a sweeter deal if we buy two.
