Default Bigger carb on a Recon 250?

Anybody ever put a bigger carb on a Recon 250? The carb on my wife's Kaw. Bayou 250 is much bigger. It shows in a drag race. Mine just runs out of wind at higher rpms while hers pulls longer in each gear and has more top end speed.

Try a 300ex/250x carb. I don't know what size your carb is, but I'm sure it is smaller then 32mm.

32 mm might be large for a stock Recon. My Recon has a 22 mm carb. My wife's Bayou has a 24. Not much of a change. The Suzuki 250 has a 29. I am looking for a trouble free swap . One that would fit the air filter tube as well as the intake manifold.

look for a aftermarket 250ex carb that would work sweet, or drop a pipe on the recon that will open it up alot, look at the ozarks carb it may be bigger.

Take the head out and port polish everything. Put the gaskets up and mark where they lay with a balck marjer and cut out any excess material.

Remember to adjust your jetting if you make ANY changes to your intake or exhaust. Unless the bike is already running rich you stand the chance of frying your engine if you open up the airflow without adding fuel.

If these things are like car engines then just do a wide open run and cut off the engine at wide open throttle. Pull in clutch if manual or just push shifter down, if auto clutch, and hold it until stopped. Pull the plug and look at color on the ceramic. Black is rich, white is too lean, and brown is perfect. Two stroke engines are more susceptible to damage due to lean condition but four stroke can run too lean and destroy itself also. That is for wide open throttle only. Idle jet and mid range is adjustable also but you need some experience to adjust these.
