Default changing out 400ex timming chain help

Does any one know if you have to split the case to change out the timming chain?

No you don't have split the main cases, you have to remove the right outter cover (clutch cover).

Yup powerslider has it right. Also if ur changing your timing chain inspect the chain quider and tensioner to make sure there in good order. But yeah its just the right case and the head cover. Also a good idea to check your valve clearance and inspect the top end to see all is in good order. Also take your time to set the timing right. even if its off one tooth itll run like crap. good luck
