Forman 450 Differential

Get the locker from Highlifter, i have one with NO problems and ALL smiles on EVERYTHING about it. There are no downsides. The ONLY way you will have steering trouble is on concrete with 12" wide tires, aired down very low, and a very wide offset wheel. Once you are locked, the only thing that matters about unlocked quads is: how long it takes to eat them alive!

The LAW and I will disagree on this one,but thats ok,we are not going to agree on EVERY issue. He says the locker kit has NO downsides.Ask other locker equipped owners their peronal opionion on the steering subject,Im betting you'll hear that the locker kit does indeed steer hard, even on hardpack.I agree, for a hardcore mudder, its great, however,a 40 mile trial ride?Forget it.===Bill

Sunday, while riding my local riding area,I thought of this Differential topic.
I run into a real bad *** 4x4 Foreman today.He was vamped,lifted and locked.
On another instance,I ran into a group of fellows with the 450s Formans, one guy had the locker kit ,the other didnt.
They were cruising this one rutted up mud pit,the stock Foreman needed to be pulled out, while his locked buddie on his Foreman drove right thru it.The guy that was stock said he was certain to get a locker kit in the future.I've road 4x4 quads with lockers before, they certainly steer harder. It is especially noticable at the lower speeds. At higher speeds,be careful to,the quad goes EXACTLY where you point it.====Bill

I guess I should have used a better choice of words. There weren't problems with the Rancher differential, I've just seen it behave like the limitied slip differential where the one front tire in the traction doesn't spin. Although improved from the front differential it is still not locked.
