Default 2004 FOREMAN 450 S QUESTION?

It happens to my friends too.. im not sure why.. we usually just shake it a lil and turn it off and on a few times and it will go down.. It usually happens in water and snow.. maybe the ES gets wet or something.. If you end up stuck and cant get it into nuetral their is a bar somewhere in the quad that you can shove in where you shift and shift it manually.. never had to thou..

Its referred to as the honda rock...youll get used to it.
The constant mesh tranny, needs motion to work, so you can either downshift as you slow down, and come to a stop, or rock it forward and backward if youre already at a stop.
But the wheels need to have a bit of motion for the dogs , to line up in the gears.
Heres a article on constant mesh trannys.

Default 2004 FOREMAN 450 S QUESTION?

You did say the S model, right? Thats what I have .When I first bought mine new a few months ago it was real hard to get in and out of gear, especially reverse, usually had to reach down and jerk it out of gear by hand..I later noticed that it seemed to idle a little high. I adjusted the idle lower and now it comes in and out of gears a lot easier! If it s idling too high, it apparantly keeps the clutches engaged slightly causing it to be hard to shift.

Duece, looks like you got the same set up as my godson and I do now..One Foreman 450s and one Sportrax 250. Thats having the best of both worlds. My Foreman started out slack on power , but after break in and a performance kit it will almost stay with the Sportrax in a drag race for the first 4 gears..Then of course, the Sportrax is gone! My godsons Sportrax is almost unstoppable now, since we added the Mudlite tires and C10 wheels.. he goes through everything that we do on the 4wd units and it looks awesome also. Have fun!
