Default 400EX Shocks

What's better the Works AT steelertriple rate without rez. or the Cannondale speed stock Ohlin shocks? What rate are the Cannondale speed shocks? Which would suit me better for trails and some dunes? I weigh 188 lbs but I'm going on a diet soon because I need it. lol
Thanx,cory

First of all, the Cdales weren't made for your machine, so I would pass them up completely. Were you going to buy them cheap from someone who replaced theirs? Ask yourself if they are so great, why are they being replaced???

I have the Works steelers with reservoirs in front, and the Ultracross in back........ they are superb!

I was just kinda lookin around and those were some of the cheaper shocks but still in great shape. Both I can get around the same price. I don't want rezzies because they cost so much. I talked to somebody that got the cannondale speed shocks for their 400ex and said they worked just as good if not better than their z-400 with works shocks. Also yes vinson581 that;s what aftermarket shocks are supposed to do is make it less bumpy and smoother.

I disagree with your assesment of the ohlins. The cannondale shocks were built for a very simliar bike in size and purpose not to mention the same measurements. The stock ohlins are better than stock 400ex shocks. Many people upgrade thier shocks for something bigger and better, that doesnt make thier existing shocks junk. Many people have installed stock yfz shocks on other yamaha bikes with very good results and I believe the same thing is being attempted with the stock 450R shocks. This particular member may not want to throw down almost 400 dollars on a set of new works triple rates w/o rez when he can get a shock that is just about as good if not better for half the price. I dont know what you're experiences are with ohlins shocks, but mine have all been positive and IMO they outperform works at steelers any day of the week.

Works makes a very good shock for the price, but IMO the ohlins are the better value here.

those olhins are only single rate valved for a wide range, i would belive works are much better, being a tripple rate valved for your riding style.
