hey everyone im new to this forum & i could really use some help. my 300ex is having some electrical problems. whenever i go to start the thing the starter makes a clunking noise & all the lights & everything just go out.[img]i/expressions/face-icon-small-mad.gif[/img] then i have to jiggle the positive wire on the battery for eveyrtihng to come back on & if i want the thing to start i hafta hold that wire or everything just happens again....im so confused[img]i/expressions/face-icon-small-confused.gif[/img]

did you try to tighten the connection at the battery?

ya i did that didnt help a bit. this thing is so frustrating sometimes.........i have ahd it for four months & in that time the starter has locked up 3 times but always fixed itself then on cold winter days the ignition wont turn at all & i have to warm it up with a lighter so it will turn & now this. its almost like it ahs a short in it?.....

yup it does sound like a short... use a decent volt meter to check the wiring in small sections... as long as the short isn't in the cdi or other sealed elctronics you should be able to find it and fix it.

Sounds like you have a bad battery cable or even possibly a bad post on your battery if you have to jiggle and hold things to make it start. I'd bet on the cable, but I did have a battery post fail on a cadillac once, it was on of those phoney side posts.

take the terminals off the battary clean the contact faces up with some sand paper put a little vasaline on them and put it back together you might find the problem has gone

Blue250R is 100% correct. I've had the same problem with my 300EX. I guess so much mud and stuff gets thrown up on the battery under the fender that is causes the connection to short out. I took mine apart and sanded all surfaces, put it back together and it was fine. But I also sprayed all the connections with some sort of battery terminal sealant that I picked up at an auto parts store. It has been fine since

my dads warrior does the same. sand down the posts, connections, and the bolts( as best u can) and make shore u do both + and -
