Default Need some help with 400 Foreman

I have a 97 foreman. I mainly use it for work couldn't ask for a better work atv, I worked it along with my cousins 700 King Quad dragging logs uphill through the mud, his kept getting stuck 27" mud lites and he had to flip in the differential lock while mine just pulled right on up the hill. Wish they were a little quicker though only runs about 50. Would like to know how much a K&N air filter would help with the speed, and also what other add-ons could I get to increase its performance. If possible could you explain what the add-ons which you may tell me about, will do such as increase in power or speed and maybe a good idea of how much they will cost. I currently have 25" mud lites, but I am getting ready to go up to the 26". Would appreciate any advice I can get, thanks.

I put a K&N filter & HMF pipe on my 02 Foreman & can tell a big difference. It was money well spent. The cost was about $300.00 for all of it. Go for it. Oh yea, you have to jet the carb. also.

The same with me, a big difference..I opted for the silencer core for 20 extra bucks to keep noise down and I could tell a good bit of difference in the low end torque. Not much if any on top end..I was told to remove the silencer core and it would make a world of difference. It definately did! It would fishtail in fourth gear! Couldnt stand the noise so i cut some or most of the tube off the silencer and re-installed it..Its a lot better and less noise. Well worth the money. Around 300 bucks through Atvoutfitters.

i kno im a sport rider but just hear me out. my dad has a 2003 rudicon with a k&n filter, jet kit & warn 4-2-4. now with just the filter & jet kit the only increase i found was in torgue not top speed. wat you need is taller tires like the 26's you are gettin. they will slightly raise the gearing giving you a higher top speed, not much but enough to notice.Peace.

Yup, bigger tires will gear you up and get your top speed up.

Air filter might help low end grunt but you won't get more top end power without opening up your exhaust. If BLING isn't a factor, cobra makes a "utility series" exhaust, I just put one on my Foreman to replace the stock one that rotted and it gave it HUGE power gains The cobra with the quiet (turn down) tip was only like $130 or so. Unfortunately it's not as quiet as the stock pipe.

Isn't it awesome what these things can skid w/o mods Plus it's a much lighter quad than any other that can compete with it as a work horse.
